Highlife musician Kwaisey Pee, known privately as Akwasi Opoku, has revealed many younger musicians dislike him because of his candid opinions.
In an interview, he told Joy Prime that people often misconstrue his bluntness as hatred.
“Whenever I voice my thoughts, people think I’m hating on someone or that I dislike the younger musicians. They make all sorts of assumptions,” he said.
Confirming that this perception has strained his relationship with some younger artists, Kwasi Pee revealed that several had rejected his collaboration requests.
“About a year or two ago, I approached a few of them for collaborations, but they declined, believing I’m always speaking against them. I have come to realise that many Ghanaians dislike being lambast.”
He encouraged younger musicians to embrace advice from experienced artists to help boost their careers. Despite this, Kwasi Pee announced that he would stop commenting on other artists in 2025 to avoid further conflict and resentment.
