The running mate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, has commended women for their crucial contributions to Ghana’s socio-economic development.
Speaking at a women empowerment event on Monday, November 18, at the Labadi Beach Hotel, she addressed participants on the theme
“Advancing Gender Equality: A National Dialogue on Current Policies and Innovative Measures for Local and National Impact.”
Further, Prof Opoku-Agyemang celebrated the achievements of Ghanaian women while identifying the barriers that limit their full participation in national progress.
She highlighted inadequate support systems and entrenched societal biases as persistent challenges and called on women to unite, show courage, and work together to overcome these obstacles.
“When people focus on our private lives instead of our accomplishments, it proves they have no valid argument. We must not fear. Instead, we should collaborate and move forward because when women work, the country prospers,” she said.
Moreover, she stressed that women’s success drives national progress, benefiting children and strengthening the nation as a whole.
“When women succeed, our children thrive, and the nation becomes stronger. Petty divisions only hold us back,” she noted.
