Highlife star Kuami Eugene asserts that Ghanaian artists need grace, relentless effort, and strong industry connections to win a Grammy.
In an interview on Cape Coast’s Property FM, he outlined the significant challenges musicians face in pursuing Grammy recognition.
“We’re still taking baby steps toward the Grammys, and even in Ghana, promoting a song requires artists to pay for airplay,” he stated.
Highlighting the struggles within the Ghanaian music industry, he stressed that basic promotion often demands substantial personal investment.
“How can we move from this point straight to the Grammys when we have to pay just to get our songs on the airwaves? Winning a Grammy requires immense effort and massive support,” he added.
Further, Kuami Eugene acknowledged the progress made so far but emphasised the long journey ahead to compete globally.
“Our population is about four times or more the size of Nigeria’s, yet winning a Grammy demands grace, hard work, and the right connections,” he concluded.
