“We Will Halt Teamwork Over Post-Election Lawlessness”-Minority

Written by Sarah Boye

The minority in Parliament has warned that it will halt cooperation in Parliament unless President John Dramani Mahama addresses the ongoing lawlessness following the general elections.

The caucus, speaking to the press, accused individuals allegedly linked to the National Democratic Congress (NDC) of engaging in post-election violence and destroying state property to prevent the Electoral Commission from declaring the Ablekuma North Parliamentary election results in favour of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

Further, they called on President Mahama to take immediate action to control his party’s supporters, emphasising that he cannot claim ignorance of the violence and disorder.

Additionally, the minority also urged the Ghana Police Service, the Inspector General of Police, and the Election Security Taskforce to act swiftly to restore law and order.
