“We Assure Reintegration Of Repatriates From The U.S.”-Ablakwa

Written by Yad Media

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has assured the public that it is actively working to ensure the safe return, reintegration, and reunification of Ghanaians being repatriate from the United States.

Speaking to the media in Accra ahead of the ECOWAS at 50 launch, Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa confirmed that the ministry is leading a comprehensive effort to support the affected individuals and uphold their dignity throughout the process.

“About 160 Ghanaians are currently on the deportation list, based on information from Ghana’s foreign service officers. The ministry, out of respect for humanitarian concerns and human rights, has chosen not to disclose further details of the individuals involved.”

Further, Ablakwa reiterated the ministry’s commitment to assisting returnees upon their arrival.

“Our teams will greet them on arrival, support their reintegration, and protect their privacy by avoiding media coverage. We are also working with partners behind the scenes to safeguard their dignity,” Ablakwa said.

This initiative follows stricter immigration enforcement in the United States, where authorities have arrested over 3,500 undocumented immigrants since President Donald Trump’s inauguration on January 20.
