WAEC’s Head of Public Relations, John Kapi, has announced that students awaiting their 2024 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) results may face delays until next year due to financial constraints.
In an interview with Adom News, Kapi revealed that the government owes WAEC GH₵118 million. Additionally, WAEC requires GH₵25 million to repair malfunctioning scanners needed to process objective test results.
“With less than two weeks remaining in 2024, the release date for the results remains uncertain because of these financial challenges.WAEC has not yet received the arrears owed by the government for conducting the exams.Without the necessary funds, WAEC cannot finalise the steps to release the results.”He said
Further, he make known that WAEC will close for Christmas on December 20, and once the funds are available, the staff will be back to complete the process.
Additionally, Kapi expressed concern over the situation, calling the delay unprecedented as the office has never faced such difficulties in releasing results before.
