Veteran Nollywood actor Kanayo O Kanayo, aged 62, has announced his intention to remain active in the film industry until he is ninety.
In a preview of an upcoming episode of the Honest Bunch podcast, he expressed his desire to continue acting well into his later years, stating, “I want to still be acting at 70, 75, 80, and 90.
However, he further expressed his concerns about the “influx of untalented women”, drug misuse and homosexuality into Nollywood. Kanayo noted that many aspiring actresses are desperate for roles but lack natural talent, stating,
“Acting is innate. If you don’t have it, you should consider other professions.”
Further, the presence of drug use among actors and unnatural behaviours, particularly homosexuality plaguing the industry.
“For men who engage in unnatural acts, it’s clear what I mean by that,” he said, adding that such behaviours do occur within the industry.
Highlighting the prevalence of abnormalities among artists, Kanayo called for a purge of certain elements from Nollywood.
