Trump Rejects Proposal For Another Debate With Kamala Harris

Written by Sarah Boye

Donald Trump has rejected the idea of another presidential debate with Kamala Harris before the November election.

On Thursday, following their first debate in Philadelphia, Trump suggested that Harris’s call for a rematch was a result of her belief that he “clearly” won the initial debate. Despite immediate polls indicating Harris performed better, Trump advised her to focus on her vice presidential duties.

In response, Harris emphasised during a campaign rally in North Carolina that a second debate is crucial due to the high stakes. With just two months until the election, polls show a close race between the candidates.
The debate, broadcast on ABC News, featured Harris challenging Trump on several fronts, including his rally sizes and his actions during the January 6 Capitol riot, which left Trump on the defensive.

Trump and his supporters have criticised the debate moderators for bias and have argued that another debate is unnecessary. Trump reiterated on Truth Social that he believes he won the debate and sees no need for a rematch.
Meanwhile, the Harris campaign continues to push for a second debate, asserting that it is vital for voters to clearly see the choice between the candidates.
