Ghana black star coach Otto Addo has acknowledged that his team could have performed better against Angola, despite the challenging conditions at the Baba Yara Stadium.
According to Otto Addo, the Black Stars aimed to start their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers positively when they faced the Palancas Negras on Thursday, but they fell short.
“I don’t want to blame the pitch for this loss, even though it was poor. We faced similar conditions against the Central African Republic and won. We need to improve,” Addo said.
Despite the defeat, Addo found some positives and remained confident about the team’s prospects for the remaining fixtures.
“The second half gives me confidence that we can still qualify. The good thing is that it’s in our hands, as we still have to play all the teams in the group.”
The Black Stars will now focus on their next match against Niger on Monday in Morocco, aiming to bounce back from their disappointing performance in Kumasi.
