Education Minister Haruna Iddrisu has urged Sports and Recreation Minister Kofi Adams to take decisive action in managing Ghana’s National Men’s Football Team, the Black Stars.
Addressing Parliament after the sports minister’s speech, Iddrisu criticised the team’s poor performance, highlighting their failure to qualify for the 2025 AFCON. He urged Adams to take a strong stance in resolving the team’s issues.
“The Black Stars, Mr Speaker, have failed to win their last six matches. This is not the Ghanaian team we know. Something is fundamentally wrong. Minister (of Sports), while interference in association football has its limits, you must be firm—very, very firm—in handling this situation,” he said.
As Ghana prepares to face Chad and Madagascar on March 21 and 24 in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, Iddrisu’s call for firm leadership adds pressure on the Sports Ministry to act.
