Five people were rescued from the debris of the accident that slammed into a quarry site at Kobina Andoh Krom in Anto Aboso, Shama District, Western Region.
They have all been transferred to medical facilities in the Sekondi-Takoradi metropolis.
Three Ghanaians and five Chinese nationals have been confirmed dead as of now.
Rescue attempts are still underway, with officials from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO), the Ghana Police Service, and the National Ambulance Service on the scene.
The explosion happened late Saturday, September 9th, at STA-ADDSAMS Enterprise, previously Omni Quarry.
The Member of Parliament (MP) for Shama, Samuel Abakah, is leading a team of government officials to assess the extent of the damage, as is the District Chief Executive (DCE), Ebenezer Dadzie.
