President John Mahama has urged the newly sworn-in members of the Ghana Armed Forces Council to carry out their responsibilities with wisdom, integrity, and a steadfast dedication to national service.
During the swearing-in ceremony on Monday, March 24, Mahama emphasized the council’s vital role in maintaining the country’s stability, reinforcing national security, and ensuring that the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) operate with the highest professionalism.
Further, he highlighted the evolving nature of security challenges, stressing the need for the council to remain vigilant and forward-thinking in its approach to national defense.
“The decisions you make as a council will influence the future of our Armed Forces, so it is crucial that you approach this responsibility with wisdom, integrity, and a strong commitment to national service. “In today’s world, security threats are rapidly changing, ranging from terrorism and cybercrime to political instability and climate-related challenges.”
Additionally, he reminded the council members that their choices would have significant long-term effects on the country’s defense strategy and the overall welfare of the military.
