The Member of Parliament for Sefwi Wiawso, Dr Kwaku Afriyie has addressed the controversy surrounding his expulsion from the chamber by Speaker of Parliament Alban Bagbin.
In an interview, Dr Afriyie labelled the actions by the speaker as unjust, authoritarian, and excessive.
He said;
“It is very wrong to tell me to leave the chamber simply because you are the Speaker and especially when you procedurally permitted me to speak.”
Further, Dr Afriyie also clarified accusations of rudeness towards the Speaker. He emphasized ;
“I wasn’t rude because we are not children in that place. I strongly oppose that claim. If you, as the Speaker, are directing us regarding too many judges and other issues, I believe that was very, very unfair.”
