Minister-Designate for Tourism, Culture, and Creative Arts, Abla Dzifa Gomashie, has urged a comprehensive review of the District Assemblies Act to breathe new life into the Centre for National Culture (CNC) across the country.

During her vetting before Parliament’s Appointments Committee on Wednesday, January 22, Gomashie stressed that modernising the legal framework would allow the CNC to better nurture young talents and protect Ghana’s cultural heritage.

“The District Assemblies Act should be change to revitalise the Centre for National Culture in every region. District assemblies have the potential to develop their communities, and I am excited to work with them.”

Abla Gomashie further pointed out the CNC’s untapped potential to cultivate creative talent, calling it a “low-hanging fruit” that could significantly impact young Ghanaians and contribute to national progress.

“Amending the District Assemblies Act would empower local governments to invest more in cultural institutions like the CNC, since it’s crucial for decentralising the development of cultural and creative arts in Ghana.
