General Overseer of the Anointed Palace Chapel (APC), Rev. Isaac Obofour, has advised young people to avoid rushing into marriage.
In his sermon, Rev. Obofour raises concern about a troubling trend where some churches pressure youth into marriage and even arrange marriages within their congregations.
He cautions,
“Don’t rush into marriage; make this significant decision carefully. If you make a mistake the first time, you may not get another chance.”
He warns against letting the church dictate one’s choice of spouse, pointing out that the church might not support individuals if marital issues arise.
“Don’t let the church push you into marrying someone just because they’re a church member. If the marriage fails, the church won’t be concerned,” he says.
Rev Obofour also stresses the importance of discernment, noting that while some church members may seem ideal as partners, they might not truly embody the values they profess.
“Some men in the church might appear perfect as husbands, but don’t be deceived. Being in the church doesn’t automatically make them right for you. Ensure the person genuinely lives by the church’s values,” he warns.
