Elom Adablah, better known by his stage as E.L, a rapper from Ghana, has explained why Ghanaian music is not famous abroad.
Appearing on 3Music TV, E.L admitted that there had been some form of deception regarding the allocation of resources and attention to the appropriate artists to promote Ghanaian music.
I’m sorry to say, but most of the musicians that we are really paying attention to are not going to carry Ghana music as far as we want them to, he said, adding that we are not giving the appropriate people enough importance or resources.
The “KOKO” hitmaker also named artists who, in his opinion, deserve adequate support and funding to advance their careers.
“The artists who are going to do it, I could give names, Worlasi, Bongo Blay, there are certain artistes who are doing excellent and I’m pleased to see it, Black Sherif, Gyakie and I’m glad to see it, and I’m delighted to see it, we need more of it because that is what is going to take us there, period.”
He went into great detail about how all the other things we are focusing on won’t help. “We need to have a shift of that mindset that we want future stuff, we want to transcend, let’s pay attention to these artistes, these artistes are going to get us there,” he said. These are our household names.
