Nigerian singer Simi has urged parents to raise their daughters to be financially independent, stressing the importance of self-sufficiency for women.
In a recent TikTok video, Simi encouraged parents to teach their children financial independence from an early age. She stated,
“Don’t raise your daughters to believe they need to depend on someone else. If someone treats them well, it should be a mutual effort where both contribute, not because they can’t take care of themselves.”
Further, Simi highlighted that financial independence builds confidence and security, empowering women to protect themselves and understand their value.
