The Electoral Commission has announced the dates for the exhibition of the Provisional Voters Register ahead of the upcoming Mop-Up Voter Registration exercise.
In an interview, the head of training department at the commission, Dr Serebour Quaicoe stated that the exhibition will commence from August 20 to 27, 2024.
Thus, exhibition will be at all polling stations, enabling everyone who has registered since 2020 to verify their information.
Further, each polling station should have no more than 750 registered voters. He said;
“We are considering almost 41,000 polling stations across the country,”If a polling station exceeds 750 registered voters, we will divide it.”
In addition, he urged all eligible voters to verify their details on the register to ensure accuracy and transparency in the electoral process.
“We urge every registered voter to participate in the exhibition exercise to confirm their details,The daily schedule for the exhibition will be from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm.”he emphasised.
Moreover, Dr Quaicoe explained that machines are linked to a central database, hence voters must visit their polling stations in person.
“When you place your hands on the machine, it captures your details from the database,” he clarified.
Additionally, the EC aims to register between 50,000 and 70,000 new voters during the upcoming mop-up voter registration exercise, scheduled from Thursday, August 1 to Saturday, August 3, 2024.
This three-day exercise will provide an opportunity for individuals who turned 18 after the recent limited voter registration.
