The vice presidential candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Prof Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, has announced that the next NDC government will prioritise responsible mining policies.
During a campaign tour, she criticised the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for allowing illegal mining to destroy water bodies and promised that the NDC will reform the sector to create jobs for rural youth.
“We will implement effective policies and systems to allow illegal mining without harming water bodies, as seen in developed nations,” she stated.
Further, she also highlighted the NDC’s 24-hour economy policy, which aims to create jobs for those unable to participate in illegal mining.
