Running mate of the National Democratic Congress flag bearer , Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, has assured Ghanaians that the free secondary education policy will be maintained under the next NDC government.
In a video circulating, Prof Opoku-Agyemang addressed NDC members and supporters at New Tafo Zongo during her one-day tour of the Abuakwa North Constituency in the Eastern Region.
She clarified that the NDC has no intention of cancelling the free education policy, which was initially introduced as a progressively free initiative under the Mahama administration.
“They are spreading falsehoods that Mahama will cancel Free SHS. This is not true. Mahama is not a wicked person to cancel the policy.”
Prof. Opoku-Agyemang emphasised that the next NDC administration would focus on improving the free education system by addressing school congestion and ensuring the provision of learning materials and adequate food for students.
She urged Ghanaians to disregard the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) government’s propaganda, claiming that a future Mahama administration would abolish the policy.
