Professor David Asamoah has won the election as the new Pro Vice-Chancellor of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST).
Reports indicate that he received 436 out of 918 votes in the poll held on Tuesday, September 17, 2024.
That is, his competitors, Professor Charles Frimpong from the Department of Industrial Arts, secured 296 votes, and Professor (Mrs.) Helen Michelle Korkor Essandoh from the Civil Engineering Department garnered 186 votes.
Prof Asamoah has served KNUST for 17 years and currently leads the Department of Supply Chain and Information Systems at the School of Business. Holding degrees in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, an MBA, and a PhD in Logistics and Supply Chain Management, all from KNUST, his academic focus includes digital transformation, supply chain resilience, and sustainability.
In addition to his academic career, Prof Asamoah has held several leadership roles, including two terms as Vice Dean of the School of Business and three consecutive terms as Head of Department.
Moreover, he has actively contributed to faculty development, leading workshops, field trips, and seminars to enhance student experiences.
Furthermore, he serves as a Research Fellow and Senior Technical Advisor at the Centre for Applied Research and Innovation in Supply Chains—Africa (CARISCA), a partnership between Arizona State University and KNUST funded by USAID.
Throughout his career, Prof. Asamoah has served on multiple university committees and moderated for KNUST-affiliated institutions.
