President Akuffo-Addo Forms Committee To Tackle Illegal Mining

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has set up a five-member ad hoc ministerial committee to engage stakeholders and assess the government’s efforts to tackle illegal mining.

In a press statement, the committee has been task with reviewing the government’s strategies for addressing illegal mining in Ghana, following the president’s directive.

Further, the Information Minister Fatimatu Abubakar announced that National Security Minister Albert Kan-Dapaah will chair the committee, with support from four other ministers.

This follows the issue of galamsey that has drawn significant attention, with various unions and associations urging the President to declare a state of emergency to resolve the situation.
