The Ghana Police Service has pledged to take firm action against anyone inciting violence before, during, and after the December elections.

During a meeting with the Civic Forum Initiative at the Police Headquarters in Accra on Tuesday, November 19, Inspector General of Police Dr George Akufo-Dampare reaffirmed the police’s zero-tolerance approach to electoral violence.

He assured the public that the police would enforce the law strictly to ensure peace throughout the election period.

“We will engage when necessary, de-escalate when needed, and be ruthless in enforcing the law within the bounds of the rule of law. Ghanaians should trust and support us as we confront anyone threatening the country’s peace,” Dr. Akufo-Dampare stated.

Further, he expressed confidence that the campaign period would remain peaceful and emphasised the police’s focus on maintaining order on election day and beyond.
