Police inspector Ahmed Twumasi, who shot his lover Maadwoa many times to death, is thought to be mentally ill.
According to Emmanuel Mawanye Kotin, Executive Director of the African Center for Security and Counterterrorism, the intensity of the police work was what caused the individual to behave out of control.
The expert emphasized that while many police officers do not seek treatment or other forms of assistance, many of them, like Ahmed Twuamsi, may have been dealing with severe mental health problems.
According to Mr. Kotin, he would not comprehend why a man in his right mind would shoot and kill his lover unless he had a mental breakdown.
Mr. Kotin stated on TV3 that “this is a mental health issue.”.
Ahemd Twumasi, the suspect, appeared in court today and said, among other things, that he killed his lover because she owed him GHC 5,000.
On May 30, he is set to make another appearance.
