Written by Sarah Boye

The Ghana Police Service has pledged to maintain law and order during the National Democratic Congress (NDC) nationwide protest on Tuesday, September 17, 2024.

At a press briefing on September 16, 2024, ACP Grace Ansah-Akrofi, Director of Police Public Affairs, assured the public that the police are fully readt to ensure security throughout the demonstration.

Further, ACP Ansah-Akrofi also reminded the NDC of their responsibilities under the Public Order Act 1994 (Act 491) for organising public demonstrations, reaffirming the police’s commitment to upholding security, law, and order during and after the protest.

Reports indicate NDC leaders will submit petitions to the Electoral Commission’s (EC) regional offices and headquarters in Accra, expressing their concerns over perceived flaws in the voter register as the 2024 elections approach.

The protest, set to occur in all 16 regional capitals, addresses the party’s concerns about alleged issues with the voter register managed by the EC.
