Renowned former Dutch forward, Patrick Kluivert, has been choose as the new head coach of Indonesia’s men’s national football team.
The Football Association of Indonesia (PSSI) confirmed the appointment, signing Kluivert to a two-year contract that runs from 2025 to 2027, with an option for extension.
Kluivert’s successful club career includes winning the UEFA Champions League with Ajax in the 1994-95 season, capturing a La Liga title with Barcelona in 1998-99, and finishing as the top scorer at UEFA Euro 2000.
Since transitioning into coaching, Kluivert has taken on various roles, such as assistant manager for the Netherlands national team, head coach of Curaçao, academy director at Barcelona, and briefly managing Turkish club Adana Demirspor in 2023.
At 48, Kluivert has enjoyed a distinguished playing career with top European clubs, including Ajax, AC Milan, and Barcelona. He also scored 40 goals in 79 appearances for the Netherlands, making him one of the country’s all-time top scorers.
