The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has de-stooled the Gyaasehene, Baamuhene, and Akyeamehene of Sabronum for their involvement in illegal mining activities in their communities.
According to reports, the Asantehene ruled on August 26 to remove the three traditional leaders who had been overseeing Sabronum in the absence of a chief, following a thorough investigation.
This action followed a petition submitted by the youth and some elders of the community, calling on the Asantehene to investigate and hold accountable those responsible for the surge in illegal mining, known as galamsey, in the area.
The community, alarmed by the pollution of their only water source and the destruction of their farmlands, has vowed to put an end to these illegal activities.
