Ghana head coach Otto Addo has apologise after the Black Stars failed to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco.
Following their defeat to Niger, Addo took responsibility for the team’s underperformance and expressed his regret.
“I am ready to apologize. I am truly sorry for our poor performance and failure to qualify because I understand how it feels and how much it hurts Ghanaians,” he said.
The team’s hopes ended after they drew 1-1 with Angola last Friday and lost 2-1 to Niger in Accra on Monday.
Despite growing pressure, Addo initially refrained from apologising and adopted a defensive stance before finally expressing regret after the defeat to Niger.
This marks the first time since 2004 that Ghana has missed out on AFCON qualification. Ghanaian coach Kwesi Appiah, leading Sudan, secured qualification alongside Angola in Group F, leaving the Black Stars behind.
