President-elect John Dramani Mahama has clarified that the newly formed Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL) team will not investigate anyone.
In an address, he asserted that, the team will collect information on individuals accused of embezzling state funds and pass it on to the relevant government agencies for further action.
“With ORAL, I announced the preparatory committee, and some confusion has arisen. We are receiving many reports about corruption and other wrongdoings—people text me, call me, or use intermediaries. We need a central point to gather all this information so it can be compiled and acted upon once we take office.
ORAL will not investigate; it will only collect evidence and forward it to the institutions responsible for investigation. Anyone with useful information to fight corruption can share it with the team. There is no payment or budget associated with it.”Mahama explained
