The Ministry for Local Government, Decentralization, and Rural Development announced plans to complete and inaugurate the Odawna Market construction in the Korley Klottey municipality by the end of July.
Minister for Local Government, Decentralization and Rural Development Mr Martin Adjei-Mensah Korsah shared this information during his visit to the market, which features a two-story school building and a 40-seat toilet facility.
During his tour, the Minister acknowledged the progress made but also highlighted several challenges that have delayed the project’s completion.
Individuals have encroached on the market, with one building erected within its premises, and some business operators have obstructed the contractor from building walls around the market.
Mr Korsah expressed concerns about the safety risks posed by the weak or missing walls, which could collapse and injure people. He emphasized the importance of addressing these issues to ensure the market’s timely completion.
“The walls surrounding the market are either missing or very weak, posing a danger as they could collapse with people around. We need to address this and other issues,” Korsah stated.
