A member of the NPP communications team, Benjamin Gyewu-Appiah, has withdrawn his earlier statement about taking his own life if the NPP lost the election.
In an interview, he clarified that he did not mean his comments literally but spoke them in the heat of political discussions.He promised to avoid making such remarks in the future, describing his earlier words as “purely political talk” aimed at rallying support for his party.
Appiah retracted his statement after officials declared John Dramani Mahama, the NDC presidential candidate, the winner of the election.
