“Non-Use Of Firearms Ease Election Tensions”-Muntaka Mubarak

Written by admin

Interior Minister-designate Mohammed Muntaka Mubarak has emphasised that the police’s decision to refrain from using firearms during the elections helped ease tensions.

Speaking before the Appointments Committee in Parliament on Friday, January 24, the Asawase MP praised the Ghana Police Service for how they handled the 2024 Presidential and Parliamentary elections, especially at the polling stations, despite provocation.

“I appreciate how the police managed the elections. They chose not to use firearms, even when provoked. Instead, they filmed those misbehaving and are prosecuting them. If confirmed, I will fully support these prosecutions,” he said.
