Nigerian musician Paul Okoye, famously known as Rudeboy, has confirmed that PSquare has split for the second time.
In an interview, he attributed the breakup to creative differences and personal issues. Rudeboy denied accusations that he belittled his brother Peter’s role in the group, clarifying that he was wrongly accused of labelling himself as the singer and Peter as the dancer.
Rudeboy explained that Peter chose to leave the group and wanted to keep the decision private. He also noted their differing visions for their music and his desire to share creative responsibilities equally.
Although their planned reunion could have led to many successful albums, Rudeboy is now focussing on his solo career. He addressed past accusations that he viewed Peter merely as a dancer, saying he didn’t realise how deeply this affected Peter. He recalled a time when they agreed to respect each other’s roles and contributions.
Rudeboy pointed out that their collaboration with T.I. on the song “Eja Jo” exposed underlying issues, as the song didn’t resonate with fans as their previous work had.
Despite his efforts to include Peter in the creative process and share responsibilities, the issues persisted.
Peter eventually decided to leave the group, leading Rudeboy to speak out now to publicly address the situation and clear his name.
