The National Identification Authority (NIA) has announced that it will commence the registration of minors aged 6 to 14 for the Ghana Card on October 7, 2024.

Deputy Director of Operations at the NIA, Alfred Gazari, emphasised the significance of this initiative in a conversation with Citi News, highlighting that registering children is essential for achieving comprehensive national identification.

Further, he explained that this effort is part of a larger strategy to include all Ghanaians, following earlier phases that focused on children aged 0 to 5.

“The NIA will conduct the initial phase of this registration in select schools across districts, making it easier for eligible children and their parents to participate,” he said.

This initiative demonstrates the government’s commitment to integrating every citizen into the national identification system.
