The Governing Board of the National Identification Authority (NIA) has dismissed the petition from the Public Service Workers Union (PSWU) seeking the removal of Prof. Ken Attafuah as Executive Secretary.
The union had accused Prof. Attafuah of unfair labour practices in a petition to President Akufo-Addo.
However, in a statement issued on July 5, the Board described the petition as baseless and unwarranted, expressing their full support for Prof. Attafuah.
They emphasised their complete confidence in his integrity, competence, and ability to serve the interests of NIA workers.
The statement also criticised the union’s actions as premature, questioning why internal channels and procedures were not exhausted first.
The National Labour Commission (NLC) had previously declared the union’s conduct illegal and out of line, noting that the NIA PSWU had no right to petition the President for the Executive Secretary’s removal without following internal procedures.
The Governing Board urged all staff to trust the leadership of the NIA and to work together towards common goals.
