Written by Sarah Boye

Governor of the Bank of Ghana (BoG), Dr Ernest Addison, stated that the newly inaugurated headquarters of the Central Bank will boost its operational efficiency and strengthen Ghana’s role in Africa’s financial landscape.

During the inauguration on Wednesday, November 20, Dr. Addison emphasised the strategic importance of the new facility in streamlining the bank’s operations and enhancing the financial system.

He explained that the main objective of the new headquarters is to consolidate the bank’s scattered offices across Accra into one central location, which will improve coordination, communication, and cost-efficiency.

Further, the Governor also highlighted that this move aligns with the bank’s modernisation strategy, which aims to position it as a forward-thinking institution capable of meeting the challenges of the global financial landscape.

“The Bank of Ghana currently operates multiple offices in Accra, and our strategic plan seeks to centralise these offices at the new headquarters. This centralisation will streamline operations, improve communication, reduce costs, and create the synergies needed for greater efficiency,” Dr. Addison said.

Additionally, he noted that the Bank Square, designed with the future in mind, has become one of Accra’s most important modern landmarks. It will play a key role in solidifying Ghana’s position as a leader in Africa’s financial sector.

The $250 million project includes three main blocks: the Tower, the Urban Block, and the Amenities Block, along with basements, podiums, and other supporting facilities.
