The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has called for a forensic audit or a parliamentary investigation into the voter register.
The party’s Director of Elections and IT, Dr. Edward Omane-Boamah, emphasised on Wednesday, August 28, 2024, that without such a review, the voter register remains fundamentally flawed.
He criticised the Electoral Commission of Ghana for not providing the NDC with the voters’ register in a timely manner before the exhibition exercise commenced. The Electoral Commission began the exhibition last week, allowing voters to verify and correct their details.
The NDC requested the voters’ register in advance so their agents could compare it with the version exhibited by the Commission.
However, the Commission only made the full register available to the parties a day before the exhibition started, even though it provided daily updates during the voter registration process and the mop-up exercise.
