NDC Demands Detailed Ballot Paper Printing Statistics From EC

Written by Sarah Boye

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has called on the Electoral Commission (EC) to provide detailed statistics on ballot paper printing before the process begins.

In a letter to the EC on Wednesday, October 9, the NDC stress the importance of transparency, referencing past concerns about allegations of additional ballot papers in previous elections.

Additionally, while the party expressed no objection to the EC’s decision, it stressed the importance of clear data to avoid repeating past issues.

“We demand that the Electoral Commission provide statistics to guide the printing of ballot papers for each constituency before the process starts. You may recall that on July 22, 2024, the NDC requested electoral code books from the Commission. Without accurate statistics, there is a risk of either too few or excess ballot papers for the December 7, 2024, elections,” the letter stated.

This request comes after the EC notified the NDC of the upcoming ballot paper printing and invited the party’s agents to observe the process on Thursday, October 10.
