“My Song Reflects Campaign Statements, Not Insults”-Ampong

Written by Sarah Boye

Gospel musician Great Ampong has rejected claims that his song *‘Emmoa Asem Nkoaa’* insults John Dramani Mahama, the flagbearer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC).

Speaking on Property FM, Ampong clarified that the song highlights statements made by the former president during his campaign tours. He stressed that *‘Emmoa Asem Nkoaa’* does not insult Mahama or NDC supporters but uses expressions from the Akan language to convey its message.

“The song reflects how the former president frequently discusses food and animals in his speeches. For example, he recently said in Accra that people talk about digitalisation when all they want is kenkey to eat.

His promises seem focused on food, so I wrote the song to emphasise that the world is progressing in high technology, not just basic needs,” Ampong explained.

His comments come amid debates and interpretations suggesting the song directly insults Mahama.
