In a recent press briefing, former National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party, Freddie Blay, announced that his son legally obtained the land on which the Polo Beach Club operates from the La Traditional Council.
Mr Blay refuted claims made by North Tongu Member of Parliament Samuel Okudzato Ablakwa, asserting that the acquisition was entirely lawful.
He clarified,
“The traditional authorities leased the place, and it is not a case of state capture. The lease is for about 20 to 25 years.
This land is neither government property nor part of the Labadi Beach Hotel. The land has been leased to my son and his partner.
This stretch of land does not belong to the government, and it does not belong to the Labadi Beach Hotel.”
Following this clarification, Mr Blay expressed disbelief that Ablakwa would make such accusations.
He demanded an apology and warned that he would sue Ablakwa for spreading false information and tarnishing his family’s reputation.
