Renowed Rapper Sarkodie has revealed the inspiration behind his latest hit single, *“No Sir,”* which has quickly become a street anthem and a favourite for the festive season.
In a recent interview with Joy News, Sarkodie shared that the track is based on a personal experience. He explained,
“It’s a true story. I’ve been through something similar, though not as extreme. A friend of mine, from a wealthy family, had a car and his own space in the boys’ quarters. He ended up connecting with my girlfriend at the time. Though it hurt, I learnt from the experience and grew from it.”
Further, the rapper highlighted that the story resonates with many, particularly during the festive season.
“This December, people will go out with their girlfriends but might end up returning alone.”
Additionally, Sarkodie also admitted that he kept the song unreleased for two years due to the political climate around elections.
“I held back, but the distributors eventually released it, and the response has been amazing,” he said.
The song’s message is clear: young men should “cut their coat according to their size.”
