Ghanaian musician Flowking Stone, whose real name is Kwaku Nsia Boama, has remarked that promoting music in Ghana has become more challenging than it used to be.
In an interview on 3FM, he explained that in the past, music producers were responsible for funding promotional activities, such as paying for radio slots and DJ play.
However, with the rise of the internet and the decline in CD sales, the industry shifted, placing the responsibility of promotion on the artists themselves.
Flowking Stone noted that this shift has made music promotion more difficult today, as many artists struggle to afford the high costs of hiring dancers, advertising on radio and TV, and running campaigns on digital platforms and social media.
“Artists are now refer to as independent artists due to their need to manage their own promotion.he added.
