Ministry Of The Interior Imposes Curfew On Nkwanta Township

Written by Yad Media

The Ministry of the Interior has imposed a curfew on Nkwanta Township in the Oti Region, starting Tuesday, January 28, 2025.

Chief Director of the Ministry, Doreen P. Annan, confirmed that the curfew will run daily from 8:00 PM to 6:00 AM. In light of this, the government is urging residents to remain calm and resolve disputes through established channels.

The statement also reminded the public that the ban on possessing arms, ammunition, and offensive weapons remains in effect. Those who violate this ban will face arrest and prosecution.

Additionally, the government reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining peace and security in the region and called on residents to comply with the curfew and other security measures.

This move follows the recent outbreak of violence in Nkwanta on January 16, which led to three deaths and multiple injuries.
