The Ministry of Information has announced the introduction of expanded monetization features for content creators by Meta( formerly Facebook) in Ghana.
In an official communication from the Public Policy Manager Anglophone West Africa at Meta, Sade Dada, creators can now earn a share of revenue from Facebook’s in-stream ads, benefiting financially when ads appear next to their content.
Meta also plans to roll out ads on reels, allowing creators to earn from ads on their Facebook reels, with further plans to expand these monetization features to Instagram later this year.
To qualify for monetization, content creators must comply with Meta’s Partner Monetization Policies and Content Monetization Policies.
These policies set stricter guidelines than general community standards, focusing on content and its presentation format.
Advertisers must also adhere to Meta’s advertising standards, which aim to protect users from poor experiences and foster meaningful connections between people and businesses across Meta’s platforms.
By introducing content monetization in Ghana, Meta aims to empower local content creators with opportunities to earn money from their online content and access advanced tools to manage their businesses.
This expansion of monetization tools marks a significant milestone, helping Ghanaian content creators leverage their online presence and build their brands.
Whereas this collaboration aims to promote digital innovation and entrepreneurship, create new opportunities for talented creators, and support the growth of Ghana’s digital economy.
