Information Minister Madam Fatimatu Abubakar has called on the media to thoroughly verify information before publication, underscoring the vital importance of accurate reporting in preventing national chaos and embarrassment.
Citing a recent incident involving a Ghanaian chef who falsely claimed recognition by Guinness for a cook-a-thon, Madam Abubakar highlighted the dangers of unverified reporting.
Speaking in an interview in Accra on Monday, she described the incident as an embarrassment and warned against its repetition.
She stressed that misinformation, particularly in the political arena, could lead to serious conflicts or chaos.
“The media must ensure the accuracy of their reports,” she stated, “spreading falsehoods can lead to chaos.”
