Mathias Pogba, brother of footballer Paul Pogba, has been sentence to three years in prison for his involvement in a blackmail plot that targeted Paul for £11m ($14m).
The Paris court handed Mathias a two-year suspended sentence and ordered him to serve one year with an electronic tag.
The extortion scheme, uncovered in late 2022, saw Mathias and a group of childhood friends demand money from Paul for “protection services” over 13 years.
Paul previously revealed the immense pressure he faced, even considering retirement because of the extortion.
With the legal case now settled, Paul Pogba plans to return to football in March 2025 after serving an 18-month reduced doping ban. As a free agent, he hopes to move on from the scandal and secure a new club soon.
