Nigerian music star Timaya, born Inetimi Alfred Odon, revealed that marriage has never been a priority for him, though he remains open to it in the future.
Speaking to Naija FM, the “Dem Mama” hitmaker explained why he has chosen to stay unmarried at 44, despite having four children with three women. He highlighted his focus on maintaining peace of mind as the main reason for his decision.
“I’ve never been the marriage type, but that could change,” he said. “If I marry today and the relationship becomes stressful, I’d leave. I’ve always ended my relationships because I value a stress-free life. If there’s an issue, let’s talk about it—I don’t like unresolved problems.”
Further, Timaya, a father to three daughters and a son, also spoke about the challenges and rewards of fatherhood.
“Being a father is great but stressful because of how much you love your kids,” he said. “They live with their mothers, but when I want to see them, I let their mothers know. They spend a few months with me, especially during Christmas, before returning to their mothers.”
