Deputy Minister of Tourism, Arts & Culture, Hon. Mark Okraku-Mantey, has taken a significant step forward in his mission to recapture the Ayensuano seat for the New Patriotic Party (NPP). On Friday, July 15, 2023, the government official collected his nomination form at the party office in the constituency, accompanied by several party executives.
During a gathering of residents who had assembled to show their support, the accomplished businessman expressed his ambition to “transform the community and empower my people.” He outlined his plans to attract businesses to the area and enhance the livelihoods of the residents. With his extensive experience and dedication to public service, Hon. Okraku-Mantey aims to bring about positive change in Ayensuano.
However, to secure the parliamentary seat, Hon. Okraku-Mantey will have to face off against the former Member of Parliament for the area, Hon. Samuel Ayeh-Paye, in the party’s primary election. Both candidates must successfully file their nomination forms and receive approval from the party to compete for the seat.
In the 2020 elections, the New Democratic Congress (NDC) managed to wrest the Ayensuano seat from the ruling NPP when Hon. Teddy Nana Yaw Addi triumphed over Hon. Samuel Ayeh-Paye. The upcoming contest between Hon. Okraku-Mantey and Hon. Ayeh-Paye will be closely watched, as political observers and constituents eagerly anticipate whether the inclusion of Hon. Okraku-Mantey can help the NPP regain control of the constituency.
The battle for the Ayensuano seat promises to be an engaging and closely contested affair. With Hon. Mark Okraku-Mantey’s vision for transformation and empowerment, coupled with his party’s determination to reclaim the seat, all eyes will be on the upcoming primary election and subsequent general election. The constituency’s residents are hopeful for a brighter future and eagerly await the outcome of this crucial political contest.
