“Mahama Will Abolish Free SHS If Elected”-Oppong Nkrumah

Minister of Works and Housing, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, claims that John Dramani Mahama, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate, plans to abolish the Free Senior High School (Free SHS) program if elected.

In a video shared on his X page, Oppong Nkrumah urged Ghanaians to support Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) candidate, who he insists will protect and enhance the Free SHS initiative.

“We need leadership that prioritises Ghana’s youth and invests in their future. Bawumia is the best choice for young people. He will safeguard and improve the Free SHS program, unlike Mahama, who would dismantle it,” Oppong Nkrumah said.

Further, he also praised Dr Bawumia’s leadership qualities, contrasting them with what he described as Mahama’s “consistent inconsistency.” Oppong Nkrumah highlighted Bawumia’s strong economic policies, commitment to healthcare projects like Agenda 111, and focus on economic expansion.

“Bawumia is committed to completing Agenda 111 to serve the people, while Mahama might delay or abandon it. On the economy, Bawumia’s policies promise sustainable growth, while Mahama’s would set us back. Even on cost-of-living issues, Bawumia has a clear plan, but Mahama does not,” he argued.

Additionally, Oppong -Nkrumah concluded by stating that the NPP has managed public resources more effectively than the NDC and believes Bawumia will continue to build on this success.

“The difference is clear. Bawumia shows integrity, while Mahama has been consistently inconsistent. The choice for Ghana’s future is obvious,” he added.
