Mahama Vows To Reinstate Recruitment For Nursing Trainees

Written by Sarah Boye

The flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama has vowed to reinstate automatic recruitment for nursing trainees if elected.

Speaking to students at the Ntotronso Nursing and Midwifery College in the Ahafo Region, he reiterated the NDC’s commitment to waiving academic user fees for first-year university students.

“I understand the challenges you are facing with your allowances and other issues, and we are ready to making things better. We will restore automatic job placements so that once you graduate, you can quickly secure employment,” Mahama assured.

He also promised that future first-year students would benefit from the fee waiver. In addition, Mahama pledged to complete ongoing hospital projects, which would create more job opportunities for nursing graduates, and urged the students to support the NDC in the December 7 elections.

“We’ll continue with all hospital projects currently under construction to ensure employment opportunities for as many of you as possible. I’ve already spoken to your patron and will return with a detailed program to address you,” he added.

Further, Mahama also committed to reviewing the current nursing trainee allowance system to better address their concerns.
